I remember the first movie I ever watched in a theater. It was my brother's birthday and he picked me up to watch it with his family. That was his wife and his two kids. It was in the old Greenhills Theater, that is now closed and converted into a forest of shops and stalls, I remember that it was very cold. And everybody and that included adults, were all impatient for the show to start. Then the lights turned off and the familiar music started to play all thruogh out the theater. It was both glorious and triumphant. And I saw the names come down. I couldn't read a thing at the time so I had to wait for the opening credits to end for me to understeand what was going on. Then there he was... Standing in the middle of the screen as I always saw him in the pictures. Superman. Then Richard Prior got into the screen to spoil everything. Superman 3 was the first movie I ever saw. I was always facinated with the way he flew, landed and did. I grew up watching Christopher Reeve save Margot Kidder countless times. If there was a film that had him in the cast I always expected him t give that killer grin. Those were the kindest eyes ever to be given the role of a lost alien that became the savior of mankind. He's done it all, the only way he could. I loved somewhere in time but I always wished that he would reprise the role someday. Or at least play a part in the next Superman movie. Sort of passing the torch to another actor to be type-casted as the man of steel. But he died two days ago. Even though he's gone to next life. I know that he will always be seen in posters, google searches, and MOVIE MAGIC station ID's. Another part of my childhood has moved on to a better place. Rest in peace Superman. Rest in peace.
